I tied this flymph with an old Michigan dry fly in mind, called McClain’s Drake. Way back in the 1940s Jerry McClain had accidentally left an old WW2 Army sweater on the clothesline and it became sun bleached. This discolored the original material. Jerry used this as the body of his fly. I had the chance to talk to him years ago and he said it didn’t matter if the fly sank or not, it would continue to catch fish. He would fish it until it was falling apart. So I figured this would make a great flymph, since it can be fished right beneath the surface. So here is my take on a McClain’s Drake version of a flymph. --Paul
