Jack Gartside ties his Sparrow

This is a rare video of Jack Gartside tying his soft hackle impressionistic fly that acts as a nymph, streamer, or wet fly. The video is a little fuzzy and the sound is a little low. But turn the volume up and listen to Jack as he ties his Sparrow.

Here is the information that was posted with the video By Runar Warhuus.

"Jack Gartside (1942-2009) was an excellent fly fisherman and a world renowned fly tier and fly designer with a number of innovative fly concepts. He did not allow videos to be recorded of him tying fearing competition to his mail order business. The only exception known to me is a long private video I recorded with him tying in my home in Oslo in 1990, never before published. Jack tying his Sparrow is an excerpt from that video."

I would also encourage you to check out this page on the Jack Gartside website that explains a lot about the Sparrow.

There are many good fly tying videos on YouTube that show you how to tie the Sparrow. But rarely do we get to see and hear Jack himself. Hopefully you enjoy this.
